Recipe | A Holiday Green Bowl So Easy to Make and Customize

I’m no whiz in the kitchen but since I learned the value and importance of food preparation, I learned to make at least the simplest of dishes.

And when you have no one to feed but yourself (well, in my case, Nic, who does not complain most of the time), you dare to make bold moves and experiment just a little bit. After all, you’re eating whatever you end up making! So I totally get it when you find a recipe you really like but have trouble putting all the ingredients together. Some things are either really hard to find or so expensive, they’re just impractical to purchase.  Continue reading Recipe | A Holiday Green Bowl So Easy to Make and Customize

This New Boutique Studio Lets You Throw More Punches in Less Time

Seems that these days we all go for short, yet intense workouts. And yes, the more intense, the better. I got to visit the newest boutique boxing studio, Flyweight, and let’s just say their signature 45-minute class felt like a good 12-round fight. I was knocked out after, and I mean that in a good way (why do we like torturing ourselves?!) Continue reading This New Boutique Studio Lets You Throw More Punches in Less Time

The First Vegan Festival in the Philippines is Happening This November

November is World Vegan month and many countries around the globe have begun celebrating it through vegan festivals. Finally, the Philippines’ time has come and we too, get to come together for two weekends of movement workshops, talks and vegan food.

This year’s theme is all about Climate Change, a battle we have been losing for nearly half a century now. If you listened to Leonardo DiCaprio’s speech when he won the Oscar for Best Actor, you probably caught “Climate Change is REAL…” For the longest time, we have been dismissing the idea because this phenomenon never posted immediate harm…until now.

Woman We Love: Rowing with Kylie Padilla

The past two weeks, I took Gabbi Garcia and Sanya Lopez out for a different challenge each and they both got to try something they haven’t done before. If you haven’t caught up with the “Woman We Love” series I’ve started here on the blog, check out the articles I wrote featuring Gabbi and Sanya.

This week is all about my bonding session with Kylie Padilla, and how WE both got to try something new. Continue reading Woman We Love: Rowing with Kylie Padilla

The Gym that Moves with You: Fitness Mobil

As I write this, I am still trying to settle from the crazy rush hour traffic I have just gotten myself out of. Around us, you’ll notice, things get busier and busier each day as we all struggle to keep up with the pace of how things flow here in the Metro.

I wanted to catch a group exercise class in one of the fitness clubs I like to go to, but at 6:30 PM, it seemed traveling from BGC to Makati was not an option. I just told myself I’ll make up for it tomorrow morning. This has got me thinking, if I already experience difficulty in catching a fitness class squeezing a workout in after a long day, I’m sure others go through it too–and probably even more than I do. Clean and Mean: Green Bar Now Delivers to Your Doorstep

The wait is finally over–for me, at least. Green Bar, a vegan cafe based in Alabang, has set up a kitchen in Makati allowing them to deliver to those who do not frequent the south. While they cannot bring the cafe over to us here for the full dining experience, it’s good enough that they have expanded their services and made their food more accessible especially because I think this is something everyone (non-vegans included) would enjoy.

They stuffed me silly one day and had me try nearly all the items on their menu. While I got to taste everything (yes, I did!), I made sure friends and family got to try too because I didn’t want to miss out on another opportunity to prove that vegan food could be THIS good.

So what was in my package? Here’s a blow-by-blow of each item.

Make Me Sweat Again: Yanis Marshall in Manila

Although it feels like so much has happened between the time Yanis Marshall was here and now that I am writing this blog post, that fuzzy feeling I got while watching him dance live still comes up as I try to recall what went on then.

Wait, Yanis who?

You probably don’t know him by name (YET), but unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably seen or heard about his viral videos that spread like wildfire on Youtube. Keywords: Gay, High Heels, Beyonce. You’ll find their videos at the top of the list. And mind you, they dance BETTER than 99% of women who wear high heels.
