The past two weeks, I took Gabbi Garcia and Sanya Lopez out for a different challenge each and they both got to try something they haven’t done before. If you haven’t caught up with the “Woman We Love” series I’ve started here on the blog, check out the articles I wrote featuring Gabbi and Sanya.
This week is all about my bonding session with Kylie Padilla, and how WE both got to try something new. Continue reading Woman We Love: Rowing with Kylie Padilla
Just last week, I published the first instalment of a series of posts featuring beautiful women who spark inspiration. We started out with Gabbi Garcia who nailed the NT Sweat Sesh we did together. If you weren’t able to catch that one, you can read it here.
This week, we’re focusing on Sanya Lopez, who tried her first yoga class with me. Sanya didn’t know what to expect but ended up feeling ecstatic when she started to break some serious sweat during our class. Continue reading Woman We Love: Yoga with Sanya Lopez
I love surrounding myself with real women who truly inspire others. Who doesn’t? And you’ve probably heard of the saying strong women lift others up, not bring them down. And that’s exactly what pushed me to start this four-part series (four-part for now!).
Over the next four weeks, we’ll be taking a closer look at four ladies you might only often see on television. We’re stripping them off of their characters and roles to, hopefully, get to know them a little better as real people. All gorgeous, all with great personalities, I love that we finally get to look past their artista image and just get to see them sweat and talk about other things they are into right now. Continue reading Woman We Love: NT Sweat with Gabbi Garcia
Remember that huge bouncy ball in your living room which you sort of used to work out with? The stability ball has either served you well or is currently collecting dust (or probably even deflated by now). I got to play with one again last night and came up with a few moves that’s sure to challenge your core stability and build overall strength. Continue reading Ball Play: 9 NT Sweat Moves to Fire You Up
Over a month ago, I woke up with a tiny throbbing sensation at the back of my left thigh, right below the bum. “Must’ve pulled something”, I thought. I knew for sure that it wasn’t the belly of my hamstring muscle (hamstrings are located at the back of your thigh are responsible for actions such as bending the knee and extending your leg backwards) I shrugged it off thinking it would eventually go away. I thought I’d just avoid stretching it and it would eventually heal. I like trying to “fix” things myself first before asking for help so I rested and practiced Yin yoga (passive stretches). While those things helped ease the pain that manifested each time I’d go into a deep stretch (such as a split with the left leg extended in front), I’d feel it every now and then signalling that it hasn’t really healed after all. The past few weeks I have been practicing or working out, I found myself not being able to play any music because I’d be in the gym where I train one of my clients or at a studio sharing the space with someone else. I’ve also been bothered by the cable on my earphones when I would go out for a run but I couldn’t let go of my music. It’s what keeps me going no matter how tough my workout gets. So I finally went on a hunt for a pair of wireless earphones that wouldn’t hurt my pocket.

As I write this, I am still trying to settle from the crazy rush hour traffic I have just gotten myself out of. Around us, you’ll notice, things get busier and busier each day as we all struggle to keep up with the pace of how things flow here in the Metro.
I wanted to catch a group exercise class in one of the fitness clubs I like to go to, but at 6:30 PM, it seemed traveling from BGC to Makati was not an option. I just told myself I’ll make up for it tomorrow morning. This has got me thinking, if I already experience difficulty in catching a fitness class squeezing a workout in after a long day, I’m sure others go through it too–and probably even more than I do. I know Sasha Fierce is so three years ago, but I’ll use her anyway. This is a tribute to the celebration of International Women’s Day. Ladies put your hands up!
I was led to write this blog entry following, what I would say, is a healthy obsession over books written by strong and empowered women. Okay, there was Keith Ferrazzi (a male author) sandwiched in between Amy Poehler and Arianna Huffington. But you get it, I was on a pretty good streak of books screaming Girl Power. Continue reading That Sasha Fierce in All of Us –Yep, I Went There!
It’s been forever since I had anything under Pretty Darn Fit “Make”. I’m going to be honest and say the food I prepare everyday is often a huge experiment and I fail to write down the ingredients and measurements when I hit the jackpot with my recipes.
So here’s one that’s really easy to do with ingredients you’ll often find in your fridge or kitchen. It’s very basic and if you’re feeling adventurous yourself, go ahead and add your own twist to it.
I’d love to know about them, so if you do re-create this sandwich and post them online, tag me (@nkitorres on Twitter and Instagram, or Pretty Darn Fit on Facebook) and use the hashtag #PrettyDarnFit or comment below with the recipe you want to share. 😉 Continue reading Ridiculously Easy Vegan Tofu BBQ Sandwich
